During the reign of Maharaja strongKrishnaraja Wadiyar IV/strong of the Kingdom of Mysore, the palace's head cook, strongKakasura Madappa/strong, was tasked with creating a unique dessert for the royal family. Using just three simple ingredients—gram flour (besan), sugar, and pure ghee—he crafted a sweet that would go on to become one of India's most iconic delicacies./ppAs the mixture slowly cooked in rich ghee, it developed a beautiful golden colour, irresistible aroma, and a texture unlike any sweet known at the time. When the Maharaja tasted it, he was delighted. Asked what the sweet was called, Madappa named it strong"Mysore Pak"/strong—"Mysore" after the kingdom and "Pak" referring to the sugar syrup used in its preparation./ppWhat started as a royal creation in strong1935/strong soon found its way into homes across Karnataka and later throughout India.
